انتزع الحزب الديمقراطي الأغلبية في مجلسي النواب والشيوخ في الانتخابات النصفية بالولايات المتحدة.
يحد هذا التحول من قدرة البيت الأبيض على تمرير التشريعات ويزيد من الرقابة على أداء الإدارة.
أدى استياء الناخبين من الحرب على إيران وارتفاع تكاليف المعيشة إلى تحول سياسي في معاقل المحافظين.
فاز الديمقراطيون بمقاعد في ولايات تكساس وكانساس وساوث كارولاينا، وأصبح عبدول السيد أول مسلم في مجلس الشيوخ.
