أوغندا تطلق اسم “بيرل سويت” على خامها النفطي قبيل بدء الإنتاج التجاري

أطلقت السلطات الأوغندية اسم “بيرل سويت” على مزيج من النفط الخام، في خطوة تمثل علامة فارقة بالنسبة لأوغندا التي تستعد للإنتاج التجاري بحلول نهاية العام.

وأعلن المسؤولون عن الاسم في موقع بنية تحتية ناءٍ لإنتاج النفط، احتفالاً ببزوغ أوغندا كدولة منتجة للنفط.

ترقب اجتماع “أوبك+” الأحد.. وروسيا ترى انتعاشاً بالطلب على النفط

ويعود الاسم المختار لمزيج النفط الأوغندي إلى وصف وينستون تشرشل لأوغندا في القرن الماضي بـ “جوهرة إفريقيا”، وأوضح المسؤولون أن كلمة “حلو” تشير إلى انخفاض مستوى الكبريت في مزيج النفط.

وقالت وزارة الطاقة في بيان إن الاسم يمزج بين الهوية الوطنية والوصف التجاري.

ويُعتقد أن أوغندا تمتلك احتياطياً نفطياً قابلاً للاستخراج يُقدر بنحو 1.6 مليار برميل.
