حرائق الغابات هذا العام اجتاحت مساحات هائلة في عشرات الدول، فيما جعلتها موجات الحر والجفاف المرتبطان بتغير المناخ أسرع انتشاراً وأكثر شدة، ورفعت كلفتها البشرية والاقتصادية والبيئية إلى مستويات غير مسبوقة. واتساع رقعة الحرائق من أوروبا وكندا إلى أفريقيا وآسيا كشف ضعف استعداد بعض الدول لمواجهتها، بينما يدعو الخبراء إلى تحسين إدارة الأراضي وتعزيز قدرات الإطفاء والوقاية قبل تفاقم الخطر مستقبلاً.
