الصحة العالمية: رصد أكثر من 900 إصابة مشتبه بها بفيروس إيبولا في الكونغو الديموقراطية

أعلن المدير العام لـ منظمة الصحة العالمية، الأحد، رصد أكثر من 900 إصابة مشتبه بها بفيروس إيبولا في جمهورية الكونغو الديموقراطية، في ظل تكثيف جهود المراقبة والاستجابة لتفشي الفيروس.

وقال تيدروس أدهانوم غيبريسوس، في منشور عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي: «مع تكثيف جهود المراقبة في إطار الاستجابة لوباء إيبولا في جمهورية الكونغو الديموقراطية، تم رصد أكثر من 900 حالة مشتبه بها حتى الآن، من بينها 101 حالة مؤكدة»، من دون تقديم أي تحديث بشأن عدد الوفيات.

ويُعد إيبولا مرضًا فيروسيًا فتاكًا ينتشر عبر الاتصال المباشر بسوائل الجسم، ويمكن أن يسبب نزيفًا حادًا وفشلًا في وظائف الأعضاء.

وكان الفيروس قد تفشى في الكونغو الديموقراطية في 15 أيار/مايو بسبب سلالة «بونديبوغيو»، التي لا يوجد لها حتى الآن لقاح أو علاج معتمد.

وفي تحديث سابق صدر السبت، ذكرت وزارة الصحة في الكونغو الديموقراطية أنه تم تسجيل 204 وفيات في ثلاث محافظات، من أصل 867 حالة مشتبه بها.

وتسبب فيروس إيبولا في وفاة أكثر من 15 ألف شخص في أنحاء إفريقيا خلال نصف القرن الماضي.
