الطاقة الشمسية تتفوق على الفحم في توليد الكهرباء بأميركا

تفوقت الطاقة الشمسية على الفحم في توليد الطاقة في أميركا خلال شهر مايو الماضي، وهي المرة الأولى التي يتفوق فيها مصدر الطاقة المتجددة على الوقود الأحفوري في شهر واحد.

ووفرت الطاقة الشمسية 12.8% من الكهرباء في الولايات المتحدة الشهر الماضي، بينما شكل الفحم 12.2%، حسب تقرير صدر اليوم الأربعاء من مركز أبحاث إمبر المعني بالطاقة النظيفة، والذي حلل البيانات التي تصدر كل شهر وكل ساعة من إدارة معلومات الطاقة الأميركية.

ويتزايد استخدام الطاقة الشمسية، فيما تسعى الولايات المتحدة جاهدة لإضافة مصادر كهرباء جديدة لتلبية احتياجات مراكز بيانات الذكاء الاصطناعي المتزايدة من الطاقة، وفقاً لوكالة الأنباء الألمانية “د ب أ”.

وتمكنت صناعة الطاقة الشمسية من النمو رغم اتخاذ إدارة الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب إجراءات لعرقلة زيادتها.

وتفضل إدارة ترامب مصادر الطاقة الكهربائية التقليدية، بما في ذلك الفحم والطاقة النووية، التي يمكنها إنتاج الطاقة على مدار الساعة، بعكس الطاقة الشمسية وطاقة الرياح.

وقال نيكولاس فولجوم، محلل البيانات في مركز إمبر في مقابلة: “إنه تغيير هيكلي في نظام الطاقة الأميركية”.
