بسبب إيبولا.. وفاة أكثر من 200 شخص في الكونغو الديموقراطية

أفادت هيئة صحية تابعة للإتحاد الأفريقي أمس الخميس، بأن فيروس إيبولا أودى بحياة أكثر من 200 شخص في جمهورية الكونغو الديموقراطية، بعد مرور نحو شهر على تفشيه.

وأفاد مركز مكافحة الأمراض والوقاية منها في إفريقيا، أن 202 شخصا توفوا جراء الفيروس من أصل 875 إصابة مؤكدة، بنسبة وفيات بلغت 23%.

وحذر الصليب الأحمر هذا الأسبوع من أن تفشي المرض في جمهورية الكونغو الديموقراطية الذي أُعلن عنه في 15 ماي، لم يبلغ ذروته بعد، وقد يستغرق احتواؤه عاما كاملا.

ويواجه التصدي لتفشي الفيروس للمرة ال17 في هذه الدولة الشاسعة الواقعة في وسط إفريقيا، تحديات جسيمة، حيث لا توجد لقاحات أو علاجات لسلالة بونديبوغيو التي تقف وراء التفشي الحالي.
