أثارت تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب المسيئة بحق ليبيا وشعبها موجة رفض واسعة من أطراف سياسية متنافسة.
أعلنت وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي استدعاء القائمين بالأعمال في السفارة الأمريكية لتقديم احتجاج رسمي ومطالبة واشنطن بتصويب التصريحات.
أكدت حكومة الوحدة الوطنية وقيادات سياسية أخرى رفضهم التام لاستخدام كرامة ليبيا كأداة في السجالات الانتخابية الأمريكية.
طالبت الأطراف الليبية بتقديم اعتذار رسمي من واشنطن مع التأكيد على أهمية بناء العلاقات الدولية على أساس الاحترام المتبادل.
