حزمة إنقاذ حكومية بـ 1.8 مليار دولار لأكبر مصهر للألمنيوم في أستراليا

قدمت الحكومة الأسترالية حزمة دعم حكومية بقيمة 1.8 مليار دولار لإبقاء أكبر مصهر للألمنيوم في أستراليا قيد التشغيل، مع ارتفاع تكاليف الطاقة التي تهدد استمرارية الصناعة.

الحكومة الفيدرالية وحكومة ولاية نيو ساوث ويلز ستقدمان الدعم لمصهر توماغو الذي تمتلك شركة ريو تينتو حصة أغلبية فيه، فيما سيلتزم ملاك المصهر باستثمار 1.1 مليار دولار أسترالي في المنشأة.

وتكمن المشكلة الرئيسية في الكهرباء، التي تمثل أكثر من 40% من تكاليف تشغيل المصهر، وسط منافسة متزايدة من المنتجين الأقل تكلفة في الصين.

الاتفاق سيسمح أيضًا للمصهر بخفض استهلاكه للكهرباء خلال فترات ذروة الطلب على الشبكة، إلى جانب تخصيص 100 مليون دولار أسترالي لتقنيات خفض الانبعاثات.
