رئيس وزراء كندا يجتمع مع مستثمرين في نيويورك

يزور رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني مدينة نيويورك في الفترة من 27 إلى 28 مايو/أيار الجاري لعقد اجتماعات مع مستثمرين، من بينهم رؤساء تنفيذيون ورجال أعمال وقادة أعمال ومديرو رأس المال، وفقاً لبيان صادر عن مكتبه.

ويلقي كارني تصريحات في النادي الاقتصادي في نيويورك، "حيث سيحدد استراتيجية كندا الاقتصادية الجديدة والتقدم الذي تم إحرازه حتى الآن".

وتهدف الحكومة الكندية إلى "تحفيز" استثمارات جديدة بقيمة تريليون دولار كندي (724 مليار دولار أميركي) في كندا على مدى فترة تستمر خمسة أعوام، وفقا لوكالة بلومبرغ للأنباء.

تأتي زيارة كارني للولايات المتحدة بعد توتر شديد في العلاقات بين بلاده وواشنطن بسبب تهديد الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب مراراً بضم كندا كولاية أميركية رقم 51. كما فرض ترامب رسوماً جمركية مرتفعة على الدولة المجاورة التي تعتمد اقتصادياً بشكل كبير على علاقتها التجارية مع الولايات المتحدة.

ورفض كارني باستمرار محاولات ترامب لضم كندا، وقال في اجتماع مع ترامب في المكتب البيضاوي: "كندا ليست للبيع".
