سكان هامبورغ يرفضون استضافة الأولمبياد

انسحبت مدينة هامبورغ من سباق المدن الألمانية المرشحة لاستضافة دورة الألعاب الأولمبية بعد رفض خططها في استفتاء شعبي يوم الأحد، لينحصر السباق بين ثلاث مدن أخرى.

وبعد تصويت ملزم، أكد رئيس بلدية هامبورغ، بيتر تشينتشر أن مجلس الشيوخ الحاكم قد اتخذ القرار بناءً على نتائج الاستفتاء، وقال: أبلغت رئيس الاتحاد الألماني للرياضات الأولمبية، توماس فايكرت، وممثل ألمانيا في اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية مايكل مرونتس بأن هامبورغ ستسحب ترشيحها لاستضافة الأولمبياد.

وقال أوليفر رودولف رئيس لجنة الانتخابات في الولاية أثناء عملية فرز الأصوات إن أغلبية المشاركين رفضوا ترشح المدينة لاستضافة الأولمبياد في 2036 أو 2040 أو 2044.

وشارك في الاستفتاء 49.5% من إجمالي الناخبين الذين يحق لهم المشاركة، أي حوالي 1.3 مليون شخص أعمارهم 16 عاماً على الأقل.

وسيحسم المجلس الأعلى للرياضة الألمانية قراره بشأن المدينة التي ستحتضن الأولمبياد وسنة الاستضافة في يوم 26 سبتمبر القادم.

يشار إلى أن ألمانيا سبق لها أن استضافت دورة الألعاب الأولمبية الصيفية عام 1936 في برلين، وعام 1972 في ميونخ.
