روى الصحفي بوب وودورد قصة انهيار صداقته مع المسؤول ريتشارد دارمان بسبب نشر سلسلة مقالات قبل انتخابات 1992.
كشف وودورد عن دور دارمان كمصدر رئيسي ومطلع على أسرار البيت الأبيض خلال رئاستي ريغان وبوش.
أكد وودورد أن الاقتراب الزائد من المصدر شكل خطراً على الصداقة وعلى المهنة الصحفية على حد سواء.
أعرب وودورد عن ندمه العميق على خذلان صديقه دارمان الذي توفي في عام 2008.
