حققت المرشحتان الفلسطينيتان عبير قواس ورواء رُمان فوزاً تاريخياً في انتخابات التجديد النصفي بولايتي نيويورك وجورجيا.
أصبحت قواس أول فلسطينية تُنتخب لعضوية مجلس شيوخ نيويورك، بينما أصبحت رُمان أول أمريكية من أصل فلسطيني في مجلس شيوخ جورجيا.
تتبنى المرشحتان برامج تركز على قضايا الإسكان والهجرة والعدالة الاجتماعية، مع تبني مواقف ناقدة للسياسات الأمريكية الداعمة لإسرائيل.
