أعلن رئيس الوزراء البريطاني انفتاحه على تقديم اعتذار رسمي عن الدور التاريخي لبريطانيا في تجارة الرقيق.
اقترح رئيس الوزراء إجراء حوار منظم مع المتضررين من تجارة الرقيق عبر المحيط الأطلسي.
شدد رئيس الوزراء على أن التعويضات المادية ليست الحل الأمثل للأخطاء التاريخية التي وقعت في عصر مختلف.
تأتي هذه التصريحات قبل مشاركة بريطانيا في قمة الكومنولث ووسط مطالبات بتقديم اعتذار كامل ورسمي فوراً.

أبدى رئيس وزراء بريطانيا انفتاحه على تقديم اعتذار رسمي عن دور بلاده في تجارة الرقيق عبر الأطلسي، لكنه تمسك برفض دفع تعويضات. ودعا دينيس أوبراين مؤسس “حملة التعويضات”، إلى تقديم تعويضات لدول الكاريبي عن حقبة العبودية.
