يُصادف اليوم 21 سبتمبر، ذكرى رحيل رمز من رموز التضحية والوفاء، المشير محمد حسين طنطاوي، أحد أبرز قادة القوات المسلحة المصرية، وزير الدفاع والإنتاج الحربي الأسبق، الذي كان له دور محوري في إدارة شؤون البلاد خلال مرحلة انتقالية دقيقة من تاريخ مصر العسكري والسياسي الحديث. وتولى المشير طنطاوي رئاسة المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة خلال أحداث.
