قد يستمر بنيامين نتنياهو في السلطة رغم تراجع شعبيته وصعوبة تشكيل حكومة بديلة قادرة على تأمين الأغلبية البرلمانية.
يستغل نتنياهو المخاوف الأمنية والقصص الشخصية لتعزيز موقعه كضامن أساسي لأمن الإسرائيليين أمام التهديدات المتزايدة.
يعكس تمرير قوانين عقابية وتصاعد عنف المستوطنين في الضفة الغربية تنامي نفوذ التيارات القومية المتشددة في السياسات الحكومية.
تمثل الانتخابات المقبلة اختبارا لمستقبل الديمقراطية الإسرائيلية وقدرة المجتمع على محاسبة القيادة على الإخفاقات الأمنية والسياسات المثيرة للجدل.

قبل أقل من أسبوعين على الانتخابات العامة الإسرائيلية، يتراجع رئيس الوزراء المحاصر سياسيا في استطلاعات الرأي، لكنه لا يزال قادرا على الاحتفاظ بالسلطة، كما يقول الباحث المقيم في لندن يانيف كورمان.
