تواجه الاحتجاجات الباريسية المعاصرة انتقادات لافتقارها إلى الشاعرية الثورية والقدرة على تقديم رؤى جديدة ومقنعة.
يُعزى فشل المنتفضين في بناء رواية متكاملة إلى استغلال اليمين لهذه الفجوة عبر خطاب عنصري وصور أكثر حيوية.
تعتمد الاحتجاجات الحالية على رموز مكررة وأفكار مستهلكة مما جعلها تبدو كنمط مبتذل يفتقر للابتكار السياسي.
أدى غياب المخيلة الثورية لدى اليسار المعاصر إلى تفوق اليمين في استغلال الأحداث وتصدير أساطيره الخاصة.
