استعرض الرئيس جمال عبد الناصر في خطاب عام 1962 التحول الصناعي الكبير الذي حققته مصر خلال عشر سنوات من ثورة يوليو.
أكد الخطاب قدرة مصر على تصنيع منتجات متنوعة من إبرة الخياطة إلى الصواريخ وتصدير مواد متنوعة كالبترول والأسمدة والمنسوجات.
كشف الخطاب عن تنفيذ 341 مشروعًا صناعيًا مع وجود 637 مشروعًا آخر في انتظار الاكتمال آنذاك.
دعا النص إلى استعادة روح الإنتاج وبناء القدرات الوطنية كخيار استراتيجي لتحقيق الاستقلال الاقتصادي وتوطين التكنولوجيا.

إن استعادة روح الإنتاج ليست مجرد حنين إلى الماضي، ولا تعني أن كل ما تحقق وقتها كان بلا تحديات، لكنها تعني الاستفادة من تجربة تؤكد أن التصنيع وبناء القدرات الوطنية خيار استراتيجي لا غنى عنه. فالصناعة ليست مجرد وسيلة لزيادة الصادرات، بل محرك للتنمية..
