حقق الديمقراطيون أربعة اختراقات في مقاعد مجلس الشيوخ بولايات تكساس وكانساس وكارولاينا الشمالية والجنوبية.
ركز المرشحون الديمقراطيون على قضايا تكاليف المعيشة والضغوط الاقتصادية والفساد في حملاتهم الانتخابية.
نجح جيمس تالاريكو في كسب مقعد تكساس كأول ديمقراطي يفوز به منذ عام 1988.
فاز روي كوبر في كارولاينا الشمالية بفضل خبرته كحاكم سابق وتركيزه على تكاليف المعيشة.

خسر الجمهوريون مقاعد في مجلس الشيوخ في تكساس وكانساس وكارولاينا الشمالية وكارولاينا الجنوبية لصالح الديمقراطيين، وسط استياء من غلاء المعيشة ومشكلات طالت مرشحيهم رغم دعم الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب.
