نيوزيلندا قد تنفق 2.9 مليار دولار لشراء أرصدة كربونية من الخارج

أظهرت تقديرات صادرة عن وزارة الخزانة في نيوزيلندا أن البلاد قد تحتاج إلى إنفاق ما يصل إلى 5 مليارات دولار نيوزيلندي (نحو 2.9 مليار دولار) لشراء أرصدة كربونية من الخارج للمساعدة في تحقيق أهداف خفض الانبعاثات بحلول عام 2030 بحسب “بلومبرغ”.

وأشارت الدراسة إلى أن تحقيق هدف خفض صافي الانبعاثات بنسبة 50% مقارنة بمستويات عام 2005 قد يتطلب تكاليف تتراوح بين 4.4 و5 مليارات دولار نيوزيلندي، مع احتمال إضافة 1.6 مليار دولار أخرى لتحقيق الأهداف المناخية لعام 2035.

وتتيح آلية سوق الكربون التابعة للأمم المتحدة للدول احتساب خفض جزء من انبعاثاتها عبر تمويل مشروعات للحد من التلوث في دول أخرى، مثل مشروعات النقل النظيف وإدارة الغابات.

وأقر رئيس الوزراء، كريستوفر لوكسون بصعوبة تحقيق أهداف 2030، لكنه أكد أن حكومته لا تعتزم تخصيص مليارات الدولارات لشراء أرصدة كربونية من الخارج، مشددًا على التزام البلاد بهدف الوصول إلى الحياد الكربوني بحلول عام 2050.
