2 arrested over alleged attempt to sell company vehicle

Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested a driver, Muhammed Magaji, alongside two accomplices, Muhammed Bashir and Abba Abubakar, over an alleged attempt to sell a company vehicle and its goods.

Magaji, a driver with a sachet water company in Asaba, Delta State, was reportedly assigned a truck loaded with sachet water for distribution but allegedly conspired with the other suspects to divert the vehicle to Benin City with the intention of selling it.

It was gathered that the driver, who has worked with the company for about one year, diverted the truck on May 22, 2026, instead of delivering the products and remitting the proceeds to his employer.

The driver admitted that he was contacted by his accomplices, who assured him that a buyer had already been secured in Benin City.

He said they were still waiting for the buyer when they were apprehended by security operatives.

The Corps Deputy Commander, Operations, Richard Balogun, confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects allegedly conspired to divert both the company vehicle and the goods entrusted to the driver.

He added that the suspects had already disposed of about 150 bags of sachet water before attempting to sell the vehicle.

Balogun said the suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
