2027: Gbolarumi, 2 Others Jostle For Oyo PDP Guber Ticket

Former deputy governor of Oyo State, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, Mogaji Oluwakayode Ogunsola, and Amofin Beulah Adeoye are the three aspirants jostling to secure the gubernatorial ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The three aspirants are the ones who have shown interests in the race and have been screened by the leadership of the party.

PDP chairman in Oyo State, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, who made these declarations in a statement on Saturday explained that the gubernatorial primary election of the party has been fixed to hold today (Sunday).

He added that the party would adopt a direct primary to pick the candidate of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He also disclosed that collation of results would take place at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Iyaganku Ibadan.

Akinoso urged members of the party to remain calm and be peaceful during the exercise.

He also enjoined them to work with candidates of the party in order to form the next government in the state.

He said, “The Peoples Democratic Party is set to conduct a gubernatorial primary across the nation on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

“In Oyo state, three aspirants, Barr Hazeem Gbolarumi, Mogaji Oluwakayode Ogunsola, and Amofin Beulah Adeoye, have shown interest in using the platform of PDP for Oyo gubernatorial race for 2027 general election.

“The conduct of the primary will be in line with the amended electoral act. A direct primary will be adopted to decide the party flag bearer. This involves the participation of registered members at all wards. The NUJ house at Iyaganku Ibadan will serve as state collation centre”.

Akinoso assured the three aspirants of a free, fair, transparent, and credible process.

Also, he urged members to vote for a candidate that can lead the party to election victory at the 2027 general election.

“I want to use the medium to appeal to our members to remain peaceful and maintain orderliness during the exercise,” he added.
