7,057 workers lose jobs in April, says minister
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 7,057 workers were reported to have lost their jobs in April, a 21 per cent increase from 5,855 in March, Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said.
He said while April’s figure was lower than the 10,658 job losses recorded in January and 7,512 in February, the month-on-month increase warranted close monitoring.
“Although this figure is lower compared with earlier months, with 10,658 in January and 7,512 in February, this development needs to be given attention,” he said.
