Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Distributes Tractors To 21 LGAs For The 2026 Farming Season

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has distributed tractors to the 21 local government councils in Adamawa State as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity ahead of the 2026 farming season.

The distribution ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Adamawa Agricultural Authority in Kofare, Yola North Local Government Area, where the governor said the initiative was aimed at expanding mechanized farming, increasing cultivated land, and enhancing food production across the state.

Governor Fintiri warned local government chairmen against diverting the tractors for personal or non-agricultural purposes, stressing that the equipment must be used strictly to support farmers and agricultural activities.

He cautioned that any misuse of the machinery would attract strict disciplinary measures.

“The equipment is meant for farmers and must be used strictly for its intended purpose,” the governor stated, adding that the intervention aligns with his administration’s commitment to food security, accountability, and rural development.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Idris Salihu, described the initiative as a major boost to farming activities in the state, noting that it would ease agricultural operations and create employment opportunities for youths through increased participation in agriculture.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Adamawa State, Hon. Suleiman Gankuba, alongside the Chairman of the Farmers Association, Ibrahim Usman Michika, commended the governor for the gesture and pledged to ensure that the tractors are properly managed and effectively utilized at the grassroots level for the benefit of farmers.

The tractor distribution is part of the state government’s broader agricultural development programme aimed at improving food production and strengthening the livelihoods of rural communities across Adamawa State.
