Iraq’s oil exports to US completely halts
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has disclosed that the United States did not purchase oil from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, or Libya throughout the last week, following varied imports from these nations in prior weeks.
During the third week of May, the United States imported 67,000 barrels per day of Iraqi crude oil and 155,000 barrels per day from Saudi Arabia, with no oil imports from Libya, local news outlet Shafaq News reported.
According to the EIA, Canada accounted for the majority of the United States’ crude oil imports over the previous week, with an average of 3.82 million barrels per day, followed by Venezuela with 414,000 barrels per day, Colombia with 211,000 barrels per day, Brazil with 200,000 barrels per day, Mexico with 145,000 barrels per day, and Ecuador with 114,000 barrels per day.
Iraq’s weekly oil exports to the United States have fluctuated over the last few weeks, hitting 48,000 barrels per day in mid-April, rising to 195,000 barrels per day at the end of the same month.
The United States’ oil imports from Iraq saw a gradual decline to 76,000 barrels per day, followed by an increase to 100,000 barrels per day. However, Iraqi oil supplies declined further to 67,000 barrels per day during the third week of May.
The United States consumes over 20 million barrels of oil each day, making it the world’s largest consumer.
