Iraqi Airways resumes direct flights to Beirut
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Airways announced on Monday that it resumed direct flights between Baghdad and Beirut.
Iraq’s national carrier informed passengers of the resumption of its direct flights from Iraq to Beirut, following the completion of operational requirements and the issuance of official approvals by the relevant authorities, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Transport Ministry.
The airline suspended direct flights to Beirut as of June 1, 2026, citing security concerns over growing tensions in the region. Before this date, Iraqi Airways had only resumed daily flights between Baghdad and Beirut on April 28, following a brief closure of the country’s airspace.
Iraqi Airways resumed flights to Dubai and Istanbul in mid-April as part of continued efforts to accelerate operations and gradually resume air traffic.
Iraq’s national airline resumed flights on April 10 as part of a plan to reorganize domestic and international air traffic and enable travel on its fleet after meeting technical and operational requirements.
The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) said earlier that Iraq will resume both domestic and international flights on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following a 40-day closure due to the military operations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
