Telecom Namibia’s Shanapinda to leave company on 1 July

Telecom Namibia chief executive Stanley Shanapinda will leave the company effective 1 July.

The announcement was made by information and communication technology minister Emma Theofelus during the company’s annual general meeting held in Windhoek on Monday.

According to Telecom Namibia spokesperson Nomvula Kambinda, Shanapinda will take up the position of executive secretary of the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa, based in Gaborone, Botswana.

Theofelus said further details regarding the transition process would be provided by the company’s new board of directors, which is set to assume office on 3 June.

She added that the process will include the recruitment of a new chief executive.

“We would like to thank Shanapinda for his service to Telecom Namibia, for his six years of service to the company and the people,” she said.

Shanapinda was appointed chief executive of Telecom Namibia in 2020 and has led the state-owned telecommunications company for the past six years.
