ظاهرة « النينيو » قد تضرب العالم خلال الأشهر المقبلة (الأمم المتحدة)

حذرت الأمم المتحدة من اقتراب عودة ظاهرة النينيو المناخية خلال الأشهر المقبلة، داعية الحكومات إلى الاستعداد الجدي لتداعياتها المحتملة على الطقس والمناخ في مختلف أنحاء العالم.
وأكدت المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية أن المؤشرات الحالية تظهر احتمالا مرتفعا لتشكل الظاهرة واستمرارها خلال النصف الثاني من العام الجاري، ما قد يؤدي إلى اضطرابات مناخية واسعة النطاق.
وأوضح خبراء المناخ أن النينيو ترتبط بارتفاع درجات حرارة سطح المياه في مناطق واسعة من المحيط الهادئ الاستوائي، وهو ما ينعكس على أنماط الطقس العالمية، مسبباً موجات حر شديدة وجفافاً في بعض المناطق، مقابل أمطار غزيرة وفيضانات في مناطق أخرى.
وأكد الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أن العالم يجب أن يتعامل مع هذه التوقعات بجدية، مشيرا إلى أن الظواهر المناخية المتطرفة أصبحت أكثر تكراراً وحدة في ظل التغير المناخي. كما دعا إلى تعزيز أنظمة الإنذار المبكر واتخاذ تدابير استباقية لحماية السكان والبنية التحتية والأنشطة الاقتصادية.
وتشهد عدة مناطق حول العالم ارتفاعا قياسيا في درجات الحرارة وتزايداً في الكوارث المرتبطة بالمناخ، ما يثير مخاوف من أن تؤدي عودة ظاهرة النينيو إلى تفاقم الأوضاع الإنسانية والاقتصادية، خاصة في الدول الأكثر هشاشة أمام التغيرات المناخية.
