Pregnant woman devastated by husband’s death in lifeboat drill mishap

KUALA TERENGGANU: Nurkhaeryna Dhania Azreen Khairil’s tears fell freely at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), as she confirmed that her husband was one of those killed in a lifeboat drill mishap earlier today.

“Yes, my husband was killed in that incident,” she said of her 28-year-old husband, Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustaman.

Nurkhaeryna said the last time she had been in touch with her husband was earlier in the morning.

“He sent me a WhatsApp message wishing me ‘Good morning’. I replied, but after that I couldn’t contact him anymore,” she said, adding that they had a video call the night before.

Nurkhaeryna said she has yet to receive any information as to what had happened.

The 28-year-old is eight months’ pregnant with the couple’s second child. Their eldest, Nur Hawa Dawisya, is only 18 months old.

“What saddens me most is that my husband had promised to take long leave when I give birth to our second child. I am devastated by his death,” she said.

Nurkhaeryna, who lives in Bukit Setingkol, Kuantan, arrived in Kuala Terengganu about 7.15pm.

Currently, there has been no official word from the authorities regarding the incident.

It was reported earlier that three men were killed and one injured during a emergency drill at an oil rig off the Terengganu-Pahang coast.

The men were in a lifeboat when the cables supporting the craft snapped, and it plunged more than 3m.
