#SHOWBIZ: Unmasking the dark side of power
FILM director Ghaz Abu Bakar has long been known for crafting intense, gripping narratives, and with his latest film ‘Konspirasi’, he once again pushes the boundaries of Malaysian storytelling.

The movie, which opened yesterday, is produced by Elepfilm Entertainment and Asia Tropical Films, with Primeworks Studios as its official marketing partner.
‘Konspirasi’ promises a high-stakes cinematic experience, and is anchored by a stellar cast that includes Datuk Adi Putra, Hisyam Hamid, Alicia Amin, Shiqin Kamal, Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim, Amir Nafis, Roy Azman and Esma Daniel.
AN ACTION-PACKED THRILLER
Blending political thriller, action and cyber-investigation elements, ‘Konspirasi’ centres on a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) team which receives classified intelligence about a hidden server containing a list of corrupt politicians alongside records of offshore financial transactions that could destabilise the nation.
To prevent the information from falling into the wrong hands, Tan Sri Kamil (played by Roy) authorises a high-risk covert operation. An elite team led by Adli (Adi Putra), alongside Ily (Shiqin), Dhani (Hisyam) and Maya (Alicia), is deployed to secure the data.
But as is the case when the powerful are threatened, even the most meticulous plans can unravel.
The mission spirals into disaster when portions of the classified data are leaked to the media and the dark web.
The breach sparks a nationwide political crisis, shaking public trust in MACC.
At the same time, whispers of an internal traitor grow louder, casting doubt on every move made by Adli’s team.
As they race to uncover the mastermind, the team realises that the threat extends far beyond internal politics.
They are entangled in a far-reaching conspiracy involving large-scale cyberattacks, manipulation of power and foreign interference aimed at weakening the nation from within.
This escalating tension forms the backbone of the film, with every moment charged with risk and moral conflict.

In an earlier report, then MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said it was an important medium to bring the realities of the agency closer to the public.
“This film provides a clear picture of the real challenges faced by enforcement officers in carrying out their duty and trust for the sake of the nation,” he said.
This endorsement adds another layer of authenticity, positioning the film not only as a dramatic thriller but as a story grounded in reality.

Ghaz further emphasises that ‘Konspirasi’ is far from empty entertainment.

Notably, the film received approval from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) without any cuts, preserving the integrity of its narrative from start to finish.
Finas chief executive officer Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib praised the openness reflected in the film, describing it as a positive step.
He noted that showcasing the realities of MACC’s work demonstrates a high level of transparency, while also reinforcing the film’s role as a significant nation-building work. It underscores a simple truth — wrongdoing remains wrongdoing, without compromise.
