Pitch invasion by fans forces abandonment of Hardrock vs Dynamos match
A PITCH invasion by fans forced the abandonment of a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match between Hardrock FC and Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe Sunday.
Trouble started during the second half after Hardrock were awarded a penalty, which was converted in the 67th minute by Wilfred Madzungu to level the game at 1-1.
After the penalty kick, tensions escalated among supporters from both sides, resulting in fans entering the field of play and disrupting proceedings.
Players and technical staff from both sides were escorted off the field as the situation deteriorated, while police and security officials intervened to calm the unrest.
Unconfirmed reports are stating that nearly 10 people were injured and taken to hospital after sustaining injuries during the chaotic incident.
Meanwhile, PSL says they are waiting for an official communication from both clubs.
“The PSL wishes to advise its stakeholders that the Castle Lager PŠL match between Hardrock FC and Dynamos FC played at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday 24 May 2026 was abandoned.
“We await the Match Officials’ reports on this matter for determination according to the PSL rules and regulations.
“Both clubs will also be requested to submit written reports on the events that transpired.
“The PSL strongly condemns any acts of misconduct at our events and those found guilty will face the full extent of the prescribed penalties.
The PSL regrets any inconvenience caused to its members, stakeholders and partners,” read statement by the PSL.
