AbdulRazaq Approves 30% Peculiar Allowance For Media Houses, Parastatals, Pay May Salary

In what looks like a special sallah gift, the Kwara State Government on Monday approved the payment of a 30% peculiar allowance for workers in media houses,  agencies and parastatals who had yet to benefit from the allowance earlier approved for their counterparts in the mainstream civil service.

The acting head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Shittu, disclosed this in a statement issued  by the press secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Okanlawon Solomon.

According to Shittu, the approval is part of the AbdulRazaq’s administration’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare, equity, and inclusiveness across the state public service.

She explained that the implementation of the allowance will take effect from June 1, 2026, noting that the gesture further demonstrates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the wellbeing and morale of workers in the state.

She commended the governor for his consistent support for the workforce and for sustaining policies that promote fairness and productivity within the civil service.

She urged workers in the affected establishments to remain committed, diligent, and supportive of government policies and programmes aimed at advancing the state.

Shittu also  revealed that salaries for the month of May had been paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to enable workers celebrate the festive season comfortably with their families.
