ADC FCT Primaries: Aspirant Alleges Electoral Materials Were Moved To Private Office

A senatorial aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ambassador Mubarak Ahmad Tijjani, has alleged that electoral materials meant for the party’s primary election were moved to a private office in Abuja instead of designated ward centres.

Tijjani, in a statement on Sunday, denied allegations linking him to violence during the disputed primary process, insisting that he neither attacked anyone nor arrived at the venue with thugs.

He said the incident did not occur at an official ADC secretariat as earlier claimed, but at the constituency office of Senator Ireti Kingibe in Gudu, Abuja.

According to him, members of the party’s Electoral Committee moved sensitive electoral materials to the location instead of distributing them to ward centres where delegates and supporters were waiting for accreditation and voting.

He alleged that the development disrupted the exercise, adding that no valid primary election was held.

The aspirant further claimed that he was invited to the venue for what was described as an aspirants’ briefing but was assaulted on arrival.

“I did not arrive with thugs, nor did I attack anyone,” he said.

Tijjani said he was later treated at Cairo Hospital after the incident and had submitted medical reports and scan results to the party leadership and security agencies.

He also questioned why electoral materials were allegedly moved to a private office and why delegates were left waiting at designated centres without voting materials.

The ADC aspirant said the matter had been reported to the party’s national leadership and security agencies.
