Atiku declared winner of ADC Presidential Primaries

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has been declared as winner of the Presidential Primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Announcing the result at the Collation Centre in Abuja on Wednesday night, Tunde Ogbeha, the returning officer of the election, said Atiku polled a total of 1,855,787 votes while former Governor Rotimi Amaechi polled 509,397 votes and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a businessman, garnered 180,903 votes.

According to Ogbeha, a total 2,546,457 votes were cast in the election.

Both Amaechi and Hayatudeen had rejected the results while collation was underway, citing alleged irregularities.

But Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman of the opposition party, said the exercise was very transparent.
