Atlético Ready To Offload Lookman In Summer
Atlético Madrid are already willing to part ways with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, barely half a year after securing him from Atalanta in a high-profile winter move.
Spanish and Turkish media reports, cited by Fotospor, suggest the club would sanction his exit for around €60 million when the summer transfer window opens.
The 28-year-old joined Diego Simeone’s side in February for roughly €35 million plus add-ons, signing a contract that runs until 2030.
Although he has netted four La Liga goals plus strikes in the Copa del Rey and Champions League, Lookman has reportedly found it difficult to adapt to Atlético’s rigid defensive demands. Simeone is said to support the decision to entertain offers as part of a wider squad overhaul.
Several Premier League clubs are expected to show interest. Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta an admirer of Lookman’s attacking versatility, are monitoring the situation, as are Liverpool — who tracked him during his Atalanta days — and Manchester United, who seek greater productivity from wide positions.
Fenerbahçe, after nearly landing him before Atlético stepped in, are likely to reignite their pursuit, while Paris Saint-Germain also remain in the picture. Inter Milan and Juventus admire the player, though Serie A sides may struggle to meet the €60 million fee or his reported €6 million net annual wages.
Lookman, famous for his Europa League final hat‑trick for Atalanta and 55 goals in Bergamo, previously played for Charlton, Everton, Fulham and Leicester in England.
