Bala Tinka clinches ADC Gov’ship Ticket in Gombe

A businessman cum politician, Bala Bello Tinka, has clinched the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State.

He secured the governorship ticket at primary election which held on Monday.

The presiding officer of the election said Tinka emerged as the ADC candidate for the governorship seat through an affirmation by members of the party.

Speaking shortly after he was declared as the party’s flagbearer, Tinka expressed appreciation for the confidence and trust shown to him by members of the party, saying if elected, he would do everything possible to uphold their trust.

He pledged to provide purposeful leadership and execute people-oriented projects that will have a direct bearing on the commoners if he emerges victorious at the polls.

Daily Trust reports that Tinka has contested for the Senate ticket to represent Gombe North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022, but lost the ticket to Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali, who was subsequently defeated by former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

He was the convener of ‘Neighbour-to-Neighbour,’ a campaign group that provided the political structure for Ibrahim Dankwambo in 2015, a group many political observers believed assisted Dankwambo to survive the APC tsunami that swept 16 governorship seats across the northern states.

As the Gombe-North coordinator for Dankwambo in 2015, he delivered all the LGAs in the zone and also contributed in capturing the remaining LGAs across the state.

Our correspondent reports that this is the first time Tinka is emerging as a candidate of a major political party to contest in a general election, a development that marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
