BUK loses lecturer
A Senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Department of Information and Media Studies, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Dr Musa Labaran, has passed away.
He died in Kano in the early hours of Monday following a brief illness, according to the Head of his Department, Professor Nura Ibrahim.
Professor Ibrahim said the late lecturer had complained of feeling unwell on Friday and later visited a hospital for treatment.
“Even after the treatment, he felt better and continued with his normal activities, only for us to wake up to the shocking news of his death. He was a committed staff member. We pray that Allah forgives him,” he said.

He added that the deceased would be buried in his hometown, Makarfi, Kaduna State, on Monday morning according to Islamic rites.
Professor Ibrahim described him as a dedicated academic who contributed significantly to the growth of the department and the academic development of students.
The late lecturer is survived by two wives and children.
