PETALING JAYA: A Chinese national who was arrested alongside 50 others over an allegedly drug-fuelled gay party at a Kuala Lumpur hotel last month is believed to be the organiser of the event, according to police.

Bukit Aman narcotics crime investigation department director Hussein Omar Khan said investigations found that the man promoted the party on Instagram using his private account, Berita Harian reported.

Hussein said investigations found that the seized drugs were for the use of participants and that there was no evidence of drug distribution, for now.

“However, further investigations are ongoing to identify the supplier of the drugs,” he added.

Hussein said all 51 people nabbed in the raid on the party have been charged in court with various drug offences.

Thirty-four of them, including the Chinese national, were charged with drug possession. The Chinese man was also charged with self-administering drugs.

Seventeen others were charged with drug trafficking.

Hussein did not disclose their names and whether they pleaded guilty to the charges.

The raid on May 24 resulted in the seizure of drugs estimated to be worth RM103,070, including 1.15kg of liquid MDMA, 284g of powdered MDMA, 8.56g of ecstasy, and 11.61g of ketamine.

A man at the party also died after being found unconscious.

Hussein said police are still waiting for the autopsy report on the man’s death.
