CJID trains over 50 journalists on healthcare reporting

The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has trained more than 50 journalists during a capacity-building workshop on healthcare reporting themed: “Investigative Skills for Covering Nigeria’s Priority Health Challenges.”
The two-day workshop was organised to support early-career journalists, mid-level reporters and campus journalists through practical, skills-focused training on Nigeria’s pressing health challenges, including maternal and child health, infectious diseases, health financing and primary healthcare.
The workshop forms part of a health project built on the belief that improved health journalism promotes better accountability in the healthcare sector.
During the training, facilitators explored ways to improve primary healthcare services across Nigeria’s approximately 32,000 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
Participants were also taught how to engage directly with pregnant women, caregivers and community leaders to better understand their healthcare experiences and challenges.
