Education Ministry to continue supporting Form 6 students, says Fadhlina

KUALA LUMPUR: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has pledged to continue supporting Form Six students, even as the pre-university programme is set to be placed under the Higher Education Ministry (MoHE).

She said the move was in line with a resolution that all pre-university programmes would be overseen by MoHE.

“Perhaps this is my last speech with Form Six students. After this, they will be handed over to MoHE. I will certainly miss these Form Six students who are highly dedicated and have always upheld the aspirations of national education,” she said in a Facebook post today.

Fadhlina said various initiatives had been introduced under her ministry, including the establishment of the National Form Six Student Representative Committee through elections, allowing students to select their own leaders.

She said collaborations had also been carried out with public universities, including Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, for Form Six programmes.

In addition, she said Early Schooling Aid had been extended to Form Six students, while the establishment of Form Six colleges had also been expanded.

“An allocation of RM50,000 per year was also provided for the National Form Six Student Representative Committee,” she said.

She also congratulated the organisers of the Penang state-level Pre-University Congress and expressed hope that student voices would continue to strengthen the nation’s education system.
