Egypt, France team up to boost industrial sector

Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, met with Emad El-Sonbaty, President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Egypt, to discuss ways to strengthen co-operation and attract more French investments to the Egyptian market.

The meeting focused on increasing French industrial projects in Egypt and helping Egyptian companies access the French market in the coming period.

Discussions also covered the Chamber’s efforts to organise trade missions introducing French companies to investment opportunities in Egypt’s industrial sector.

The two sides reviewed the Chamber’s support for Egyptian companies participating in the SIAL Paris exhibition, one of the world’s leading food industry events that brings together international exhibitors, buyers, and experts in the food and beverage sector.

Hashem said the Ministry of Industry is keen to co-operate with the French Chamber because of its important role in strengthening ties between Egyptian and French business communities and supporting companies in both countries.

He added that the Chamber plays a key role in organising joint trade missions, opening new markets, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and helping transfer and localise French technology in Egypt. He also highlighted efforts to encourage more French companies to invest and expand in the Egyptian market.

He stressed that Egypt is working to provide a stable and attractive business environment for foreign investors. He noted that Egypt’s network of free trade agreements gives companies access to major markets across Africa and the Middle East.

For his part, El-Sonbaty said the Chamber is eager to encourage more French companies, especially SMEs, to invest in Egypt, transfer expertise, and localise advanced technology. He added that this would help improve the efficiency of Egyptian industry and increase export opportunities.

He also highlighted the role of the Chamber’s sectoral committees, especially the Industry Committee, in strengthening co-operation between Egyptian and French companies.
