Egypt raises Hajj medical readiness as patient visits top 20,000

Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt’s Hajj medical mission in Saudi Arabia has raised its state of readiness to monitor pilgrims’ health conditions, particularly during rituals in Mina and Arafat.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said Abdel Ghaffar held a video conference meeting with senior members of the Egyptian medical mission to review preparations for providing medical and preventive services to Egyptian pilgrims.

The minister instructed medical teams to intensify round-the-clock field monitoring and ensure rapid emergency response in coordination with Saudi health authorities.

Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the mission had expanded its preventive and awareness activities, organising 1,869 awareness seminars and conducting 42 field visits to pilgrims’ accommodation sites and gathering areas.

He added that logistical and medical preparations had been completed through the provision of eight tonnes of medicines and medical supplies, supported by 28 fully equipped specialised clinics in Mecca and Medina.

The clinics are serving around 80,000 Egyptian pilgrims, with the total number of patient visits exceeding 20,000, according to the ministry.

The statement said Egyptian pilgrims’ overall health condition remains stable and confirmed continued coordination between Egyptian and Saudi health authorities to ensure pilgrims’ safety until their return home.
