EgyptAir launches 1st direct Cairo–Los Angeles flights to expand US network

EgyptAir has inaugurated its first direct flights between Cairo and Los Angeles, marking a significant expansion of its international route network and strengthening air connectivity between Egypt and the western United States.
The launch ceremony for the inaugural flight was attended by Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company; Robin Haroutunian, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Egypt; Marjon Benguli, Regional Attaché for US Customs and Border Protection; and Captain Mohamed Alyan, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Airlines, who also commanded the inaugural flight.
The new route represents a major milestone in EgyptAir’s strategic expansion plans, given Los Angeles’ status as one of the world’s leading economic and tourism centers and a key gateway to the US West Coast. The service is expected to enhance travel, tourism, and commercial connectivity between Egypt and the United States.
Captain Ahmed Adel said the launch of the direct Cairo–Los Angeles route reflects EgyptAir’s vision to broaden its international network and reinforce its global presence, in line with the national carrier’s ongoing modernisation and development strategy.
He added that the route will not only serve Egyptian and Arab communities across the western United States, but will also contribute to boosting tourism, trade, and investment exchange between the two countries.
Robin Haroutunian welcomed the launch, stating: “We are pleased to see EgyptAir expanding its services to include more destinations across the United States, including today’s inaugural flight to Los Angeles and the anticipated launch of the Chicago route.
“Los Angeles serves as a vital gateway to the western United States, and this new route will boost ties between Egypt and one of America’s most dynamic regions.”
To mark the occasion, EgyptAir organised a festive celebration for passengers aboard the inaugural flight, distributing flowers and commemorative gifts in celebration of the launch of the new service.
