Explosions reported near Bandar Abbas as Iran says situation under control

Explosions have been reported in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas and nearby coastal areas along the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media.

Mehr News Agency said the situation in Bandar Abbas is under control, adding there is no immediate cause for concern after blasts were heard east of the city. The outlet noted that officials have yet to comment on the cause.

Tasnim News Agency reported that three explosions were heard in the area, while Fars News Agency said similar sounds were detected near the towns of Sirik and Jask, close to the strategic waterway.
