FM invites British companies to leverage investment opportunities

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty called on British companies to benefit from investment opportunities in Egypt and expand their existing activities.

This came during his meeting on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in London with chairmen and CEOs of British companies operating in Egypt, alongside representatives of investment funds and British business leaders.

Abdelatty stressed that investment in the Egyptian market represents a strategic opportunity for companies seeking access to Middle Eastern and African markets, highlighting Egypt’s role as a regional gateway.

He expressed Egypt’s pride in its longstanding economic relations with the United Kingdom and the strong presence of British companies in the Egyptian market over recent years, voicing hope for further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation and increased British investment across multiple sectors.

The minister noted that Egypt continues to implement a comprehensive economic vision aimed at strengthening stability and promoting sustainable growth despite regional and global geopolitical challenges, stressing the resilience of the Egyptian economy in facing successive crises.

He reviewed government measures and reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and business environment, including monetary and fiscal reforms and efforts to enhance tax and customs efficiency to support trade and investment flows.

Abdelatty reaffirmed the state’s commitment to empowering the private sector and increasing its contribution to economic activity as a key partner in development.

He highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages, including its strategic geographic location, modern infrastructure, and extensive network of free trade agreements, in addition to the opportunities offered by the Suez Canal Economic Zone in industrial, logistics, and energy sectors.

He also referred to the “Golden License” initiative, noting that it is attracting growing interest from foreign investors due to its streamlined procedures for establishing strategic projects.

Representatives of British companies and investment funds, for their part, expressed appreciation for the development of Egypt’s investment environment and affirmed their interest in expanding their investments in the Egyptian market in the coming period.
