FRSC, NSCDC Deploy 5,139 Personnel For Eid-el-Kabir In Kano
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have deployed a combined 5,139 personnel across Kano State ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to strengthen security, traffic control and emergency response.
The FRSC Kano Sector Command said it deployed 1,889 personnel, including regular officers and special marshals, for a week-long special patrol operation scheduled from May 25 to May 31, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, Sector Commander CC Idris Mohammed Lawal said the operation was aimed at reducing road crashes, traffic congestion and other highway emergencies during the festive period.
He said 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, one heavy-duty tow truck, two operational motorcycles, radar guns and breathalysers had also been deployed to strategic locations across the state.
According to him, the patrol will target offences such as speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, phone use while driving and the use of unroadworthy vehicles.
Lawal added that mobile courts would be active to ensure swift prosecution of offenders, while emergency rescue teams had been placed on high alert for rapid response.
He urged motorists to avoid excessive speed, drunk driving, overloading and night travel, warning that unsafe driving behaviour could lead to avoidable crashes during the Sallah period.
Similarly, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State said it had deployed 3,250 operatives across the state to provide security during and after the celebrations.
In a statement signed by spokesperson SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, State Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama said personnel had been stationed at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres and other public spaces.
He added that security had also been reinforced around critical national assets, while the Corps’ Rapid Response Squad had been directed to intensify surveillance and patrols.
The NSCDC warned criminal elements and troublemakers to stay away from activities capable of disrupting public peace, saying offenders would be dealt with according to the law.
Both agencies urged residents to cooperate with security and traffic officials to ensure peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations across the state.
