Holiday rush: Nearly 100,000 Langkawi ferry tickets sold
ALOR STAR: A total of 99,128 ferry tickets for travel between Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis and Langkawi have been sold ahead of the upcoming Aidiladha celebrations and school holidays.
Konsortium Langkawi Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Lt Cmdr (Rtd) Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said 120 regular trips and 53 additional trips had been scheduled from May 21 to June 7.
He said about 100,000 passengers were expected to use the ferry services during the period, with tickets sold through online, counter and other booking channels.
“Passenger ferry operations run from 7am to 7pm daily and will be extended until 10pm if there is high demand from online ticket sales,” he said in a statement.
Norhafiz said despite global geopolitical tensions and high fuel costs, demand for travel to Langkawi remained strong.
“To avoid missing out, visitors are advised to purchase tickets online via the Cuti-Cuti Langkawi application,” he said.
He added that ferry operators would maintain high readiness throughout the peak travel period.
