Immanuel Shifidi SS mourns veteran teacher
The Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School community is mourning the death of its long-serving teacher, Lourika Groenewald, describing it as a ‘great loss’.
Groenewald worked at the school for more than 17 years, teaching English and Afrikaans since 2008.
In a tribute message, the school says she was a dedicated, kind teacher who made an impact on many lives during her time as an educator.
“Her loss is profoundly felt across the entire school community. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family, friends, and loved ones find strength and comfort during this difficult time,” the message reads.
Windhoek High School has also extended its condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, pupils and the Immanuel Shifidi community.
“May her dedication, kindness, and impact on the lives of so many never be forgotten. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn her loss,” the school wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
The Jumpstart Schoolwear family has also joined the community in extending its condolences, noting that Groenewald’s contribution, dedication, and impact on the lives of those around her would always be remembered with ‘great’ respect and appreciation.
“During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone mourning this tremendous loss. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” it says.
She is also believed to be a sister of former miss Namibia Sunne January.
