Johor PKR slams ex-leaders, members over immature political behaviour
KUALA LUMPUR: Johor PKR has condemned the behaviour of former members and leaders for what it described as politically immature conduct, saying they continue to hurl baseless accusations without any factual basis after leaving the party.
Without naming specific individuals, Johor PKR leadership council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said these former leaders and members appeared to favour using media platforms to spread perceptions that risked confusing all parties, including PKR members.
She said they should instead practise political maturity and channel their dissatisfaction through the proper avenues.
“PKR respects every individual’s right to determine their own political stance, but the decision to leave the struggle should not be accompanied by baseless accusations, confusing narratives or statements that are more emotional than factual.
“It is unfair to portray the entire party as being in a fragile state simply because a handful of individuals have chosen to go in a different direction.
“The fact is, Johor PKR continues to move forward with a strong leadership structure, an active machinery and grassroots members who remain loyal to the reform struggle,” she said in a statement today.
Commenting on claims that thousands of members would be leaving the party, Dr Zaliha said such claims should not be used merely as a political propaganda tool.
She said PKR did not engage in politics based solely on figures that were trumpeted to create perceptions, but was guided by facts, fieldwork and genuine strength at the grassroots level.
She said if there were indeed those who were disappointed or held differing principles, such a situation was normal in politics, and the public could judge for themselves whether the decision of leaders who had left PKR was truly based on the principles of the struggle or merely a reaction to personal disappointment.
“Johor PKR will not be dragged into politics of vengeance or unconstructive polemics. Our focus remains clear – to strengthen the organisation, close ranks in the struggle and ensure the party is in full readiness to face the political challenges ahead.
“This struggle has never been built on the strength of any particular individual, let alone dependent on those who come and go according to the political season.
“PKR has weathered far greater challenges and will continue to stand firm because its strength lies in principles, not personalities,” she said.
