JPJ to postpone suspension of online system to long weekend, says Loke

PETALING JAYA: The road transport department (JPJ) has agreed to reinstate its online services for vehicle ownership transfers and suspend the system only later this week.

Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said he discussed the matter with JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli and was informed of abuses in the system resulting in liabilities for the department.

“However, I have advised JPJ to ensure that the system enhancement works do not disrupt the daily affairs of ordinary users or cause major congestion at JPJ offices.

“JPJ has agreed to immediately reinstate the online services for such transactions, and any temporary suspension of the system for improvement works will only be carried out during this coming long weekend holiday,” Loke said in a Facebook post.

Wesak Day falls on Sunday, while the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, and Hari Gawai fall on Monday.

Aedy announced the suspension of JPJ’s online service for vehicle ownership change effective today, encompassing all digital channels including the public portal, kiosks, and JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.

This meant that all vehicle ownership change matters for individual and private company ownership had to be addressed at JPJ counters.

For the eAuto service provider channel, Aedy said only transactions under the temporary ownership transfer system would continue as usual.
