JUST-IN: Ex-Deputy Gov Gwarzo Emerges NDC Governorship Candidate In Kano
Immediate-past deputy governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The announcement was made on Friday morning by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson to the former deputy governor, who disclosed that Gwarzo “will be formally affirmed alongside other NDC candidates during the party’s scheduled affirmation ceremony today (Friday).”
According to the statement, the event would also feature “the affirmation of the party’s candidates for the State House of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and presidential elections.”
Gwarzo brings decades of political and administrative experience to the race. He previously served as deputy dovernor of Kano State from 2023 to 2026 and was elected twice elected chairman of Gwarzo local government council.
He also held commissioner positions in four ministries in Kano State, where he contributed to policy formulation and implementation across key sectors.
In addition, Gwarzo served as a member of the National Assembly Service Commission and as chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Kontagora, Niger State.
The statement noted that his “extensive record in public administration and grassroots leadership has earned him recognition as one of Kano’s most experienced political figures.”
It further stated that his emergence as the Kano State NDC governorship candidate “is expected to bolster the party’s campaign efforts and strengthen its position ahead of the elections.”
